L.A. Coadjutor Named: Jose Gomez

Pope Benedict XVI this Tuesday named His Excellency José Horacio GÓMEZ Coadjutor Archbishop of Los Angeles, California. A native of Mexico, Archbishop Gomez will as coadjutor succeed Cardinal Roger Mahony as the head of the Los Angeles archdiocese, as much as ¾ of the membership of which is estimated to be of Hispanic background. Until now, he has been the Archbishop of San Antonio, Tx.
