Thomas Peters at American Papistis reporting that Roger Cardinal Mahony, the first Protestant Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles will "soon" announce a coadjutor Bishop to replace him upon his (DEO GRATIAS!) retirement on or before his 75th birthday in February, 2011.
The good news is that Gumbleton is retired, Trautman is not on the short list, and Roger Haight hasn't written another book. Perhaps for the people of the Los Angeles Archdiocese the nightmare may soon be over. No more youth days reminiscent of Nuremberg and Heaven's Gate. No more heresy disguised as ecumenical outreach. Perhaps a Bishop who understands that Catholic and Compromise are not synonymous.
