They are in!!! I will begin the process of publishing the birth statistics for 2008.
Among this year's highlights:
The cesarean rate in NJ rose to 39.4% of all births, up from 38.9% in 2007.
Nearly 3/4 of all vaginal births in NJ include epidurals
The GOLD STAR goes to Monmouth Medical Center for LOWERING their c-section rate to 26.6% (from 27.4%) and upping their VBAC rate to 23.8% (from 21.2%)and having an epsiotomy rate of just 1.3%!
St Barnabas can no longer claim to deliver the most babies in NJ! That title now belongs to St Peters followed by Hackensack followed by St Barnabas
The cesarean rate at Southern Ocean County Hospital fell a total 10% (from 44.9 to 34.5%)! Granted, they don't do many births(342 in 2008) but it's refreshing!
